Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia has called for the immediate release of her driver following an alleged arrest by the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to the Kipipiri MP, DCI officers took her driver to an unknown destination after his arrest along Thika Road while he was on his way to pick her up.
The MP’s driver is said to have been taken into a Subaru, and the officers took over Wanjiku’s car, with three other Subarus following the vehicle to an unknown destination.
“My personal driver has been arrested along Thika Road while coming to pick me up, and I do not know his whereabouts. Directorate of Criminal Investigations-DCI, you were evidently seen putting him in a Subaru, taking over my car while 3 Other subarus followed him to an unknown destination,” Kipipiri MP stated in a public notice on her social media account.
Further, Muhia has called for the immediate release of her driver, citing the withdrawal of her security four days ago, before the alleged arrest.
In addition, the Kipipiri MP has emphasized that, following the arrest of her driver and the withdrawal of security, the government of Kenya will be fully responsible in the event any harm occurs to her.

Wanjiku Muhia Security Withdrawal
On June 16, Wanjiku held a political rally with the people of Ol Kalou to encourage voting in the Member of Parliament election.
During the meeting, Wanjiku Muhia added that residents from Nakuru, Kiambu or Murang’a would be allowed to vote in Ol Kalou.
She further affirmed that threats being issued against her would not make her retreat from her political stand.
She, however, clarified that the Ol Kalou election will only be for the Ol Kalou residents and that it was not a political incitement, but rather what Ol Kalou residents had decided. And after the political meeting, Wanjiku confirmed that her security had been withdrawn.
On June 17, Kipipiri MP alleged that after her security detail was withdrawn, unknown vehicles had been following her until late at night.
Muhia expressed her concern about her safety and that of her family, informing the members of the public of the Government of Kenya’s role in her security ‘threat ‘.
According to Muhia, the intimidation and security withdrawal stem from her strong participation in the upcoming by-election in the Ol Kalou constituency.
Additionally, Muhia affirmed that she was ready to avail herself to the DCI if necessary, stating that she will continue to hold meetings with locals seeking votes for Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru.
