Kenya Power Managing Director Joseph Siror has cleared the air about his long-time friendship with President Wiliam Ruto.
While confirming an undated image that resurfaced on social media days after his appointment, the MD stated that they preached together with President Ruto back then.
Speaking during an interview at a local media station, Siror described his good old moments with President Wiliam Ruto.
When asked if the person in the image was Siror, he giggled saying “that could be my twin.”
He however after a second admitted that indeed it was him “Yeah, I’m the one that was around 1989 at a trip in lake Nakuru,” said Siror
In the picture, Siror is standing alongside President Wiliam Ruto and some of their mutual friends.

Moreover, the image in question had been a subject of debate after it surfaced across the social platforms with netizens raising brows over his relationship with the head of state.
Siror and Ruto Preaching Days
The KPLC boss revealed that they schooled together at the University of Nairobi and that they were preachers.
“We were together in college, and we used to preach together,” he stated.
He further noted that he is still a preacher but did not disclose the church he preaches in.
“I am a preacher, first and foremost …but don’t tell anybody. When I am free, I will actually come and preach,” added Siror.
Appointment to Kenya Power
The image of President Ruto and Siror appeared early May 2023 after he was appointed to Kenya Power and Lighting Company as Managing Director.
The other three individuals in the photo are believed to be Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, KenGen Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Waweru Njenga and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) MD Joe Sang.

Nonetheless, the picture attracted a lot of reactions from Kenyans online with several highlighting trends of “who are your friends” implying how the head of state has rewarded his friends with top jobs.
Others even asked what lessons people can learn from the throwback photo.
However, prior to his appointment, Siror was the General Manager in charge of Technical Services (System Operations and Power Management) at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).
