The Kenya Power has said it is experiencing a system hitch due to a network breakdown from their service provider.
“We are experiencing a system hitch due to a network breakdown from our service provider,” part of the statement reads.
Through a customer alert dated Thursday, July 27, 2023, the power company said services such as purchase of prepaid tokens through M-Pesa and USSD Code *977# were unavailable.
“Consequently, some of our services such as the purchase of prepaid tokens through M-Pesa and USSD Code *977# are unavailable,” the statement further reads.

Nonetheless, Kenya Power has issued an alternative way of purchasing tokens as they handle the system breakdown.
The power company announced that customers can now buy tokens via their banking halls, Airtel Money and other authorized banks.
In addition, KPLC informed customers that the company is working to restore the affected services and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
“We are working with our service provider to restore the affected services as soon as possible. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused.” Noted KPLC.

Furthermore, the company called on customers to reach out to them through their various social media platforms for inquiries.
The statement by the power company comes a few hours after several mobile payment services experienced a downtime including Safaricom and Mpesa applications, KPLC USSD Code as well as eCitizen.
In addition, several government services went down on Thursday, July 27 following attempted attacks by anonymous hackers.
