Priscilla Njiraini, popularly known as Madam P, an aspiring Kilimani Ward MCA under the United Democratic Alliance ticket, had her CX-5 vehicle torched on May 18 in Githurai during countrywide fuel protests.
The UDA aspirant explained that the protestors who set her vehicle ablaze were driven by finding a campaigning branded UDA sash in the CX-5.
According to the human resources consultant, the husband was driving the vehicle during the torching, from Kilimani to Kamakis to buy construction materials.
Upon reaching Githurai, the aspirant’s husband was stopped by a group of protestors who broke the vehicle’s windows and, upon finding the UDA sash, set it on fire.
“When he arrived at Githurai, he found a large group of protestors who stopped him, broke the windows on the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, unfortunately, they spotted an advertisement for a UDA sash because I am vying for the Kilimani ward MCA under the UDA party. The UDA Sash is what led to the car being burnt,” Priscilla Njiraini Noted.
She argued that she and her husband had not expected to incur any damages as the protests had earlier been declared as peaceful.
Further, she added that there was no link between the political party one chooses to vie under and the ongoing protests in the country.
In addition, she stated that it is within her democratic rights to join and vie under any party of her choice without facing any threats and backlash.

Priscilla Njiraini affirmed that she is actively campaigning for the MCA seat in Kilimani on the UDA ticket and will continue to do so despite the incident.
“I am indeed campaigning as I need the seat; however, there is no connection between elections and torching of vehicles, whether which party will win or what party the people need, I am vying as me, and I have every right to vie under any party ticket,” Priscilla affirmed.
DCI pursues suspects
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) condemned the attack and asked the public to help recognize any individuals captured in the footage.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has received and is currently analysing viral video footage that is believed to feature individuals among the prime suspects involved in the torching of a Mazda CX-5 along Thika Road during today’s protests,” read part of the statement.
The DCI added, “Detectives are diligently pursuing crucial leads aimed at identifying and apprehending all those involved in this criminal act.”
Following the fire incident in Githurai, the UDA aspirant confirmed that her husband has reported the matter to the Kasarani Police station.
The couple is set to visit the scene on May 19. Priscilla, however, expressed her doubt that with the online videos circulating, there is probably nothing left of her CX-5.
