Sandra Sonko Mbuvi, the youngest daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, has officially declared her bid for the MCA seat in Kitusuru Ward.

According to Sandra, she will be competing for the post under the National Empowerment and Development Party (NEDP) ticket.

Sandra, popularly known as Thicky Sandra, will be competing for the MCA seat alongside candidates who have officially declared their interest in the competitive Kitusuru MCA race ahead of 2027.

According to Sandra’s campaign slogan, ‘Let’s Build Together,’ under her leadership, she has promised to empower the youth, offer quality education, and healthcare.

In addition, under her rule as the Kitusuru MCA, the ward is set to become a safer neighborhood under transparent leadership.

“Kitusuru Kwa Wote Wetu,” translating to “Kitusuru for all of us,” is her campaign tagline.

Further, the potential MCA has cited the pillars of her campaign, including building a strong community with a brighter future and working together to improve the ward.

Sandra Sonko Competitors

In the upcoming 2027 Kitusuru MCA election, Sandra Sonko will face Alvin Olando Palapala at the ballot box, who has been the MCA for the ward since 2013 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Alvin Palapala has been ranked among the most active and strongest incumbents for the position; however, he is reportedly interested in the Westlands MP seat in 2027.

In addition to Alvin, Sandra, the new entrant in the race, will compete against Governor Francis Shawn, a youth advocate and community mobilizer.

Shawn Francis Wambua has been actively campaigning for the Kitusuru MCA seat under the slogan ‘Better Must Come’.

A political poll by IdealMerit indicated that, in the officially declared bids for the position, he was leading with 44% support.

The same poll showed that Victor Thamba, who is also eyeing the Kitusuru MCA position, came in second with 40% support in the race.

About Sandra Sonko Mbuvi

Sandra is the lastborn in the family of Mike Mbuvi Sonko and has older sisters, including Saumu Mbuvi and Salma Mbuvi.

She has lived her life in the public eye with frequent appearances during the political events held by her father as a member of the high-profile political family.

For her secondary education, Sandra attended St. Austin’s Academy in Nairobi before relocating to the UK to pursue higher education.

At the University of Brighton, Sandra enrolled in a five-year course in Journalism, Broadcasting, Media, and Podcasting.

The award, however, was received in absentia while she was studying in the UK.

In addition to being an entrepreneur, Sandra is also recognized as an influencer and model across her social media platforms.

Politically, she has officially announced her bid to become a Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Kitusuru Ward.
