The Ministry of Education will offer secondary school Elimu Scholarships to needy students countrywide.
The Education Ministry will provide these scholarships through the Equity Group Foundation and The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation to informal settlements in fifteen 15 urban centers.
Moreover, the scholarship programme is for needy and vulnerable students who attained 280 marks and above in the 2022 KCPE examination.
The gazette notice states that orphans and those with special needs and disabilities who attained below 280 marks may be considered for the scholarship as well.
“Refugee girls and boys from camp-based schools who attained a minimum of 240 and 250 marks respectively may be considered,” part of the gazette notice reads.
Likewise, candidates who sat KCPE in public schools and camp-based primary schools including Kakuma, Kalobeyei and Dadaab are the only ones eligible for the scholarship.

Nonetheless, any candidate interested in the scholarship is advised to collect application forms from the nearest Equity Bank Branch or Equity Bank Agent or sub county directors of Education offices.
Similarly, the application forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Education, The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and Equity Group Foundation websites.
The deadline for submitting the filled forms is 5.00 pm on January 23.
Furthermore, shortlisted candidates, accompanied by parents/guardians, will be invited for interviews.
The Community Selection Advisory Committees will conduct the interviews.
The scholarship will cover school fees, transport to and from school, school kit, and a stipend (pocket money) for the four years in secondary school.
