Doctor Joe Njagi is a Kenyan Gynecological Surgeon and consultant Obstetrician known for his expertise in women’s health.

He is an endometriosis specialist based in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County.

Njagi has built a social profile by sharing theatre videos and health-related content, which has led to his massive following on TikTok.

Doctor Njagi’s Early Life and Education

Joseph Nyaga Njagi was born and raised in Kenya.

According to him, he developed a passion that led him to pursue a career as a gynecologist.

“You know, I would say I never chose endometriosis, neither did I choose to become a gynecologist. It’s just a story where a door opens up, and you find passion,” stated Joe, speaking to The Kenya Times.

Njagi joined the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2005, where he studied a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, and graduated in 2007.

He also pursued a Bachelor of Medicine degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

He later joined Mbarara University in 2013, pursuing a master’s degree in the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, completing it in 2016.

Medicine Career and Leadership

Nyaga has held successful surgeries with his skills, something that he is proud of in his career.

“So, for you to become an endometriosis specialist, you have to be quite advanced in terms of skills,” said Joseph.

Doctor Njagi currently serves as the Director at 3rd Park Hospital in Parklands, Nairobi, a position he has held since 2023, where he oversees hospital operations, patient care, and innovative surgical programs.

He is responsible for Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgeries and Endometriosis expertise.

His expertise in advanced laparoscopic procedures and a focus on endometriosis treatment have enabled him to improve the lives of women through precise, minimally invasive surgical techniques, with a proven track record of successful surgeries and positive patient outcomes.

He employs the latest advancements in laparoscopic technology in performing intricate procedures.

Njagi is also a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist (OBGYN) at Maple Grove Gynecological Centre in Kerugoya, a role he has held since 2016.

In Kerugoya, he has developed an understanding of gynecological conditions, ranging from routine wellness to complex reproductive disorders, through a patient-centered approach emphasizing open communication.

Previously, he worked as a Consultant OBGYN at P.C.E.A Tumutumu Hospital in Nyeri.     

Njagi is the Secretary General of the Kenyan Society of Endoscopic Specialties and the Founder of Laparoscopy Mashinani.

Njagi has specialized in:

  • Reproductive health
  • Routine obstetric care

He remains actively involved in professional organizations, including

  • Kenya Obstetrical and Gynecological Society – KOGS 
  • Kenya Society of Endoscopic Specialties – KESES
  • Endometriosis Eastern League – EEL
  • World Endometriosis Society – WES

Social Media Influence and Public Engagement

Apart from his clinical practice, Njagi has built a strong online presence.

Currently, Njagi has over 1.7 million followers on TikTok.

He mainly uses TikTok to address several health issues, particularly women’s health, since he specializes in that.

He also shares interactive videos inside the operating rooms, gaining engagement as a result of his millions of followers.
