Stephen Mogaka, the Member of Parliament (MP) for West Mugirango Constituency, has penned a letter to President William Ruto expressing his concerns over Vincent Kemosi Mogaka’s decision to decline the presidential appointment as High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana.

The letter, dated 9th April 2024, outlined Stephen Mogaka’s appreciation for the opportunities extended to the people of West Mugirango, including the positions of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) for Trade and the Ghanaian High Commissioner.

“Irrespective of the recent development your Excellency, accept our gratitude as the people of West Mugirango for offering us the positions of CAS Trade and thereafter the Ghanaian High Commissioner,” said the MP.

Expressing disappointment and unease over Vincent Kemosi Mogaka’s refusal of the appointment, Stephen Mogaka emphasized the significance of such a role in serving the country.

“As the elected Member of Parliament deeply invested in the well-being and progress of our nation, I find it troubling that a qualified individual would choose to forego such a significant opportunity to serve our country.”

“The role in question undoubtedly carries immense responsibility and offers a platform to make meaningful contributions towards representing our country’s interests in Ghana,” read the statement in part.

MP Stephen Mogaka Call to Ruto

Furthermore, he acknowledged that while personal circumstances may influence such decisions, turning down the international role also came with implications.

While apologizing on behalf of the people of West Mugirango for recommending Vincent Mogaka for the position, the MP requested President Ruto to consider another qualified individual from the constituency for the state job.

“Sir, kindly accept my personal apology and that of the People of West Mugirango, having requested you personally to offer Hon. Vincent Kemosi a job which he has had the audacity to decline,” he wrote.

“I plead with you that you consider an alternative able person from West Mugirango Constituency for appointment as a High Commissioner for Ghana.”

Ruto’s Commitment to Mentoring Young Leaders Praised

He even went further to offer alternative CVs for consideration, demonstrating his commitment to ensuring the best representation for Kenya in Accra.

“I take the liberty to separately suggest to you your Excellency a number of Curriculum Vitae to consider along with other persons you might be having in mind,” the MP noted.

Additionally, he also expressed his trust in President Ruto’s commitment to mentoring young leaders and changing Kenyans’ lives.

“We value your magnanimity and mentorship of young leaders and trust that the conduct of one of our own does not curtail your love for us and your relentless commitment to genuinely change Kenyans’ lives.”

“I will walk with you all the way sir and so will the People of West Mugirango,” remarked the West Mugirango MP.

Vincent Kemosi Declines State Job Offer

On April 9, Vincent Kemosi, the selected nominee for Kenya’s High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana, announced that he would not be accepting the position.

In a letter addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kemosi formally declined the prestigious role, citing personal family matters as the primary reason for his decision.

“I wish to inform you that I will not appear before the committee at the time specified for the approval hearing.”

“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters, which after taking into consideration don’t allow me to take the position of the High Commissioner to Ghana as nominated by the Excellency the President on March 9, 2024,” read the letter in part.
