The Kenyan passport has been ranked the 9th strongest in Africa.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index Kenyan passport maintained its 76th position among worlds strongest passports.
The Henley Passport Index compares visa-free access of the 199 different passports globally, across some 227 travel destinations.
According to the index, passports with no or limited visa requirements rank stronger.
The ranking is based on the number of destinations passport holders are allowed to access with limited visa requirements or with the visa requirements at all.
Consequently,Seychelles has the strongest passport in Africa with access to 153 destinations. The passport is ranked 28th globally
Regionally, Tanzania and Ugandan passports rank below Kenya.
Mauritius, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini and Malawi are other African countries with stronger passports above Kenya.
Somali and Libya have the weakest passports in Africa .
Globally, Kenya tied at position 76th with Tanzania and Zambia(72 destinations).
Uganda’s passport ranks at position 80 globally.
As per the index Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Germany and Spain have the strongest passports in that order.
Notably, Countries with strong passports are fertile grounds for tourism and investments
