Days after Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua called out Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria, the DP is being asked to go slow on attacking the former Gatundu South lawmaker.
Political Analyst Herman Manyora has advised Gachagua to tone down his attacks against CS Kuria regardless of their differences.
The analyst argued that CS Kuria can spoil DP Gachagua’s chances of taking over from former President Uhuru Kenyatta as Mount Kenya kingpin.
” I would advise DP Rigathi Gachagua to go slow on the Trade minister, Moses Kuria.
Kuria is a grassroots leader who can mess up his chances of being Mt. Kenya kingpin. Mr Gachagua, ogopa (you should fear) Moses Kuria,” said Manyora.
Additionally, Manyora opined that the public spat between DP Gachagua and CS Kuria arises from the gap left by retired President Uhuru.
Manyora stated that the space left by Uhuru is too big for any Mount Kenya leader to occupy.
“The problem is filling the gap ostensibly left behind by Uhuru. Shoes too big, and still on Uhuru’s feet,” he said.
Gachagua, Kuria supremacy
Replying to this post, Lawyer Dr. Miguna Miguna questioned why Manyora ranked CS Kuria as a grassroot leader.
Miguna explained that Kuria tried to impose NARC party leader Martha Karua as President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 general elections but failed.
“Kuria tried to impose Martha Karua as William Ruto’s running mate in 2022 but failed. He tried other distractions at Limuru and failed. What grassroots?” questioned Dr. Miguna.
Further, a user by the name Victor Mochoge commented that CS Kuria came last in Kiambu gubernatorial race and does not qualify to be a grassroot leader.
“A grassroot leader who came last in Kiambu governorship race?” asked Gichane Anthony.

However, Nungari from Maryland stated that the DP is fighting CS Kuria because he is a threat in the Mount Kenya politics.
“Exact reason why he is fighting him. There is a Kikuyu saying that when a hyena wants to eat its cub. It starts by accusing it of smelling like a goat. Mount Kenya is on his way out,” said Nungari from Maryland.
On the other hand, Anthony Muhuma reasoned that Mt. Kenya region is organized politically, and DP is the current Mt. Kenya leader.
“The Deputy President is now the Mt’s leader, I like his unmatched wisdom and intellect, I just love the chap freely, he’s smart upstairs, proud of him as DP of Kenya,” he replied.
Executive arrogance
Moses Kuria on Saturday, September 16 said the cost of fuel will continue rising until February next year.
The CS went ahead to ask Kenyans who are complaining of high fuel prices to drill their own wells.
Furthermore, CS Kuria highlighted that the price of crude oil going up was not a secret as the whole world is aware.
While reacting to Kuria’s sentiments, DP Gachagua cautioned all state appointees against addressing Kenyans with arrogance.
Further, DP Gachagua said the remarks by leaders responding to the high cost of living were not a true representation of sentiments shared by the Kenya Kwanza government.

“I would like to remind them that although the people of Kenya did not employ them directly, they decisively elected President William Ruto who in turn appointed them Cabinet secretaries and Advisors,” he warned.
This made CS Kuria to offer a sarcastic apology to Kenyans on Wednesday, September 20.
Kuria said he had been advised by people, including Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and his master that his remarks on the rising cost of fuel were wrong, arrogant, and insensitive.
“Dear Kenyans. On Friday, September 15, I made some comments indicating that the price of fuel is likely to go up in the coming months owing to global dynamics.
I have since been advised by people like Dr Boni Khalwale and his master that the statement was incorrect, insensitive, and arrogant,” Kuria wrote.
Also, he stated that he has realized the prices of fuel will drop hence his apology.
