President William Ruto has called for a crisis meeting on Friday, September 29 at the Bomas of Kenya as cracks within his United Democratic Alliance – UDA widen.
The meeting, which will bring together elected, nominated and party officials comes weeks after Ruto on September 12, held a 6-hour meeting at UDA offices that ended late at night.
The Kenya Times established that during the meeting, the Head of State addressed the internal wrangles and claims of an attempt to derail party elections set for December.
Further, the meeting came in the wake of in-fighting within the ruling party. For instance, there were reports of senior UDA officials being used to undermine Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Disjointed UDA
On Sunday, September 17, after arriving in the country from Colombia, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called out Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and State House chief Economic Advisor David Ndii for their arrogance.
“You Do Not address your employer with arrogance. Do so with Humility and Decorum. Kenyans, like the rest of the world, are going through difficult Economic times and leaders should address them with Sensitivity and Empathy,” the DP noted.
Gachagua affirmed that the statements shared by the said leaders do not represent the position of Kenya Kwanza as a government. This further exposing the disjointed state of the ruling regime.
“I would like to remind them that although the people of Kenya did not employ them directly, they decisively elected H.E President William Ruto, who in turn appointed them Cabinet Secretaries and Advisors,” he added.
Nonetheless, in his sarcastic response, a defiant Kuria stated that he was telling the truth and right for responsible leaders.

“These are global and climate change driven. Responsible leaders ought to tell the truth to prepare the people. You can throw stones at me all you want,” stated Kuria.
On his part, Ndii wondered why any right-thinking person would believe in a government, further painting Ruto in a bad light, a year into office.
“I don’t believe politicians, and I don’t trust government. If you do, you are a sucker,” Ndii wrote.
He further told Kenyans that more pain was on the way.
“I am not a politician, and I don’t sell hope. It is going to be painful, and it may not work. Even Oxford and Havard trained doctors lose patients,” he added.
Following the outbursts, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale a UDA member, asked Ruto to kick Ndii and Kuria out of his government.

Khalwale’s position reinforcing the fact that the cracks within Ruto’s UDA camp could be getting wider each passing day.
UDA SG Malala blowing hot and cold
Moreover, UDA Secretary General has been on the spot for bullying some members and his leadership style.
The former Kakamega Senator is pushing for the dissolution of ANC and Ford Kenya parties, which are among Kenya Kwanza’s pillar parties.
Malala has also told Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula to forget about their presidential ambitions.
With Ruto already in a campaign mood barely a year into office, there is every need to put the house in order.
