Jubilee party leaders Jeremiah Kioni and Kanini Kega clashed at the people’s dialogue festival at the Museums of Kenya on Thursday, March 9 over who should address the meeting on behalf of the party.
The rival party leaders almost fought as their contest for the post of party secretary-general intensified in the event organized by the Center for Multiparty Democracy.
Moreover, the battle for leadership of Jubilee party played out after Kioni stormed into a session where Kega was taking part.
As a result, the two leaders engaged in a near fistfight, but the event organizers intervened and separated them.

Nonetheless, Jubilee party’s National Executive Council replaced Kioni with Kega on 9th February. However, the changes were approved by the Registrar of Political Parties but were later reversed by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
In addition, the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) blamed Jeremiah Kioni for the brawl during the event saying it is the former Ndaragwa legislator that walked into and interrupted an ongoing session in which Kanini Kega was participating.
Likewise, the CMD expressed disappointment with disorderliness at the event after Kioni and Kega brought their internal party differences to the open and clashed publicly before guests and partners
A statement by the CMD noted that the CMD-Kenya Board is seized of the unfortunate events between the two leaders, adding that there will be discussions on the next cause of action on Jubilee Party.
