Alego Usonga Member of Parliament (MP) Sam Atandi has revealed how the broad-based government is favouring the Nyanza region.
Speaking at St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya County, Atandi, who chairs the Budget and Appropriation Committee, said he is working closely with Treasury CS John Mbadi to meet the region’s needs.
Atandi told the people that he cannot ask for favors from President William Ruto, as he is in charge of resource allocation.
He revealed that goodies have been allocated to the Nyanza region, but he cannot discuss them publicly to avoid suspicion of bias.
The law does not allow me to ask the President anything. I am the person who allocates the budget. There are many things that we have included in the budget, and if I reveal them here, people will say I am biased.
Nyanza Leaders Eating Like Termites
Atandi stated that the Mbadi and Energy CS, Opiyo Wandayi, are aware of the allocations to the region.
He stated that top leaders from the region are working in silence to confrontation from those who don’t support such allocations.
We must live like termites that eat, but you can’t know how they are building. I am building intelligently, Mbadi , Wandayi and the other people know what is going on. I want us to talk little about the things we are doing but work because some people are not happy with the allocations.

Atandi- Nyoro Ate Loudly
Atandi also criticized Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who is the immediate former Chairman of the Budget Committee.
He accused Nyoro of allocating too many resources to his region and discussing it in public, which led to his removal.
“You saw the person whom I took over from allocated a lot and talked too much, and he was removed,” Atandi said.
Atandi explained that his role is to allocate resources while CS Mbadi ensures they meet the needs of the people.
“I want you people to remain calm because the people you have put into government are strong and know the problems facing our region,” he added.

Mbadi Confirms Atandi’s Statement
Mbadi, who attended the event, also confirmed that Siaya County will witness several development projects in the 2025/26 financial year.
He stated that ‘the pen’ given to him by President Ruto considered the County during the allocations.
The pen which we have been given, with Atandi on my side, our pen worked well on the Siaya people. You will see this once we start implementing the projects.
