President William Ruto has praised Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for acknowledging government development projects, while accusing other opposition leaders of denying progress even in areas where roads have been built.
Speaking on Saturday, October 24, during the commissioning of the Mwala Cluster Water Project in Mwala Constituency, Machakos County, Ruto said Kalonzo has recognised the government’s work despite their political differences.
The President commended Kalonzo for what he described as honesty in acknowledging projects undertaken by the government.
He went on to contrast Kalonzo’s position with that of other opposition leaders, whom he accused of failing to recognise development projects even when the government had undertaken work in their areas.
“At least Kalonzo is truthful,” Ruto said.
“Where work has been done, he says it has been done. The others (opposition leaders), even if you build a road right up to their doorstep, will still say there is no road. They are the biggest liars.”
Ruto Names Kalonzo Among Two People God Is Using in Kenya
Ruto also named himself and Kalonzo as the two people he believes God is using to drive development in the country.
The President thanked the Wiper leader for acknowledging his role in delivering development projects despite their political differences.
“I thank my friend Kalonzo for saying that God is using me. But you should know that there are two people God is using in Kenya: Kalonzo and me,” Ruto said.
He explained that while he is responsible for overseeing development projects, Kalonzo helped communicate their progress to Kenyans.
“You know, God is using me to build roads, bring water and organise healthcare services, while God is using Kalonzo to help me publicise the work by saying that a road has been built and water has arrived. So I do not see anything wrong with that,” he added.
The President’s remarks followed Kalonzo’s comments on road construction in Ukambani, where the opposition leader suggested that Ruto’s renewed commitment to infrastructure development was divinely inspired.
The Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, said God is using President William Ruto to fast-track development projects in Kenya, such as tarmacking the road to Tseikuru in Ukambani, and teased that the work is part of a divine plan ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
“Ruto, because he fears us, is working hard to complete the road to Tseikuru, and I’m telling him to work even harder. By now, that road should have reached Maua. God is using Ruto in a very special way. That hard work isn’t really his; it is God’s,” Kalonzo said.

Ruto’s Ukambani Development Tour
The remarks came as Ruto continued his four-day development tour of Ukambani, covering Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties.
In Machakos, the President commissioned the Mwala Cluster Water Project, which is intended to improve residents’ access to water.
During the commissioning, Ruto pledged to address persistent water shortages in Ukambani, saying the government will build additional dams in the region to improve residents’ access to water.
“We must be deliberate and intentional in addressing water shortages in Ukambani,” he said, adding that the government planned to construct two major dams in the region.

The Head of State also dismissed claims that Ukambani was being sidelined because of its political alignment, assuring residents that no region would be left behind in development.
“The old politics of tribalism and discrimination no longer have a place in Kenya. Nobody should mislead you that Machakos is an opposition stronghold. Machakos is part of Kenya, and just as we are building roads across the country, this region must also receive its fair share,” he said.
The tour comes as political leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with development projects and the government’s performance expected to feature in political debates.
