Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has refuted allegations made by Alego/Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi that he threatened his life.
These allegations arose after an audio clip where Mr. Oduol is allegedly heard saying Mr. Atandi had escaped his trap, but he would still teach him a lesson went viral on social media.
However, Mr. Oduol rubbished the allegations saying the audio clip was created by his political enemies to malign his name.
The Siaya deputy governor said he believes in “politics of peace and tranquility” and cannot by any means threaten his fellow leader.
He further urged his supporters and the entire community of Alego/Usonga Constituency to give people who want to malign his name deaf ears.

In addition, Mr. Oduol opined that the life-threatening allegations are just diversionary schemes to shift people’s attention from the recent evidence he submitted to Siaya County Assembly on corruption claims in the county.
As such, Oduol urged the people of Siaya County to focus on the evidence and avoid listening to the cheap politics looking to malign his name.
This came even after a section of Alego/Usonga constituents held peaceful protests pushing for the deputy governor’s arrest over the alleged threats against their MP Atandi.
In the petition they submitted to the respective offices, the constituents of Alego/Usonga demanded that investigations be done into the matter and disciplinary action be taken.
They are further seeking an impeachment process to be initiated against the Deputy Governor.
