Politician and businessman Jimi Wanjigi has clarified the concerns surrounding his alleged possession of guns and grenades after the government recently linked him to assault weapons.
Speaking in an interview, Wanjigi stated that he does not own the guns, contrary to the allegations made during the recent raid at his Muthaiga home by heavily armed police officers.
“I do not have guns. I am not a militia and I’m not trying to overthrow the government of Kenya,” he said.
Wanjigi explained that there are two essential pillars of any government: guns and money- which he said a government cannot operate without.
“Those are the two pillars a gun to protect people to protect them to protect money and money to buy those guns and that is the essence of any government anywhere,” he said.
The politician alleged that he has been victimized because he has “gone after the government money” through his civic education on public debt which he has been vocal on for the last two years.

“I’m going after the other pillar because they have broken the constitution of this land on the pillar of money,” he said.
Jimi Wanjigi Explains Why Govt is Haunting Him
Jimi Wanjigi, who is also the Safina Party Leader, claimed that the President William Ruto-led regime is targeting him, claiming that the recent attack which linked him to the possession grenades and teargas canisters, is a sign that the regime intends to eliminate him.
“My family was saying that if these people catch you, they will kill you, they won’t kill us. They may threaten us, and take us in, but it would be too much for them to kill us. I absolutely think that the Ruto regime wants to kill me. Why come and say I have grenades? To say I have grenades is saying that I am waging a war using arms,” Wanjigi said.
Wanjigi asserted that if the government was genuinely concerned about arresting him, it could have easily issued an arrest warrant or followed lawful procedures for apprehending suspects, rather than terrorizing his family.
“I don’t think that it is my home, I think it is me that they seek because, on both times, it has been about me. If it is about the law, there are many ways you can arraign me in court,” he said.
The Politician Speaks on Nane Nane Protests and the Raid
Wanjigi also mentioned that he was in Nairobi CBD during the Nane Nane protests on August 8, where he was tear-gassed by the police, who then engaged him in a car chase that led to his home.

“I appeared on Thursday at around 3:30 PM. We found the streets very empty and encountered a small crowd on Kimathi Street that was being teargas and held by police. The crowd embraced us, and we joined them, but it was no longer than 5-10 minutes, and we were being tear gust out of town,” Wanjigi stated.
“There was a vicious car chase all the way to Muthaiga. We locked the gate and that’s when the siege began.”
The former presidential candidate reiterated that he watched the police planting explosives and guns in his motorcade on Thursday August 8.
He added that it is possible both former President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto are afraid of him and should come forward and shed light on the same.
“But on two incidents they planted stuff, guns in the first incident and now they are saying there are grenades and smoke bombs, teargas canisters and God know what else,” he added.
“Here we have two regimes creating criminalities to get me. This is them who fear me. You should ask them why they fear me. It has never happened to anybody else in this country. Raila Odinga said that even in the Moi regime it never happened.”
