Bonny Khalwale, often called the “Ikolomani Bullfighter,” is a recognized Kenyan doctor and politician who serves as the Senator for Kakamega County, first elected to the Senate in 2013 and re-elected in 2022.
In an earlier interview with KTN, Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale spoke about his family background, including his parents, siblings, wives and children.
Khalwale said he comes from a family of seven siblings: six brothers and one sister. He also noted that both his parents had passed away, adding that his father was in his 50s and his mother was 45 when he was born.
Speaking about his own family, Khalwale openly described himself as a polygamous man.
“And then I have got my own family. I have several children, boys and girls. I have several wives and the other mothers with us too,” Bonny Khalwale said.

Public reports identify four women as Bonny Khalwale’s wives, with the senator having publicly described himself as a polygamous man.
Adelaide (Adeline) Khalwale, his first wife, is deceased and was the mother of three children. Khalwale has previously said she died several years before his 2024 disclosure about his family.
His second wife is Josephine Umina Khalwale, with whom he has three children. Khalwale has previously said some of their children are pursuing university education.
His third wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, was the mother of eight children. Gloria died suddenly at the family home in Kakamega on August 15, 2026, prompting messages of condolence from political leaders and other public figures.

In a post mourning her, Bonny Khalwale listed their children as Engine Kukaste, Olivia Sabayi, Flavia Shimuli, Gift Atubukha, Meliza Khamwenyi, Velma Nasiebanda, Sonia Inuni and Maura Makatse Khalwale.
“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” the senator mourned.
His fourth wife is Diana Moragwa Khalwale, with whom he has three children. Reports describe some of their children as still in lower levels of education.
Across the four marriages, Khalwale is reported to have 17 children, three with Adelaide, three with Josephine, eight with Gloria, and three with Diana.
Profile Of Bonny Khalwale
Bonny Khalwale was born on 5 August 1960 in Malinya village, Kakamega. He began his formal education at Malinya Primary School, then proceeded to Musingu Boys High School for his O‑levels, and to Kakamega High School for his A‑levels (1979–1980).
In 1981, he joined the University of Nairobi to study medicine and graduated in 1987 with a Doctor of Medicine (MBChB) degree.

After graduation, Khalwale worked as a medical officer in government service and later established a private medical practice in Mombasa and Kakamega, which he ran through the 1990s up to 2002.
He left clinical practice in 2002 to pursue elective politics, though he has retained his professional identity as a doctor and has occasionally been called upon to use his medical skills in emergencies.
Khalwale’s political career began in 2002 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Ikolomani Constituency, a seat he held until 2012.
During this period, he also served as an Assistant Minister and became nationally prominent as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), where he led high‑profile investigations into public spending and parastatal scandals.
In 2013, he was elected the first Senator for Kakamega County and served one term until 2017. He returned to the Senate in 2022 after being re‑elected Senator for Kakamega
