Nalitex Limited Company has emerged as one of the firms awarded a government procurement tender to supply Kenya’s new police uniforms.
During the police pass-out parade presided over by President William Ruto on August 28 at the National Police College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County, the president unveiled the new police uniforms.
The new uniform is expected to replace the predominantly dark-blue general-duty police attire that has been used since 2018.
However, following the unveiling of the new uniform, members of the public raised concerns about the tendering process for the uniforms.
The Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP) leader, Eugene Wamalwa, has also raised concerns about the suppliers of the new police uniforms, demanding that the public be informed about the company supplying the.
“Today, we are demanding to know the company that made the uniform and how, and to whom, the tender was awarded,” Wamalwa demanded.
Nalitex Limited
Nalitex Limited was incorporated on May 3, 2024, according to Business Registration Service records, a year after a police public participation forum rejected the existing uniforms.
During the procurement process, the company was awarded one lot of police uniform supply, with the other lots awarded to other companies.
According to reports, Nalitex Limited was awarded the tender to supply the newly unveiled uniforms at an estimated cost between KSh 2.8 million and KSh 3 million.

Business Registration Service records indicate the company’s sole shareholder and director is one Selpha, based in Kapsokwony, Bungoma County.
However, the company’s postal address, 776600200, has been linked to several businesses reportedly linked to the First Family.
Additionally, the company is registered at an address at the Hifadhi House in Nairobi.

New police uniform
The new general-duty uniform features a light-blue shirt or blouse and dark navy trousers.
According to the National Police Service, the working kit includes a shirt, trousers, jacket, T-shirt, beret, sweater, socks, belt, lanyard and raincoat.
Additionally, the new ceremonial attire includes navy-blue trousers, a structured navy-blue jacket, a peak cap, and a Sam Browne leather belt.
However, the National Police Service clarified that the new uniform is for general-duty officers, while specialized formations will retain their distinctive operational attire.
Speaking during the police pass-out parade, President Ruto noted that the new uniform changes followed consultations in 2023.
“We are unveiling a new uniform for general duty officers of the Kenya Police Service. This change follows consultations with police officers and the public in 2023 as well as recommendations for the Presidential Task Force,” President Ruto stated.
The rollout is scheduled to begin on August 31, 2026, according to reports on the transition announced by the National Police Service.
