This record is held by five players who managed to net five time for different teams and during different seasons.

1. Andy Cole
Cole is the first player in the Premier League to ever score as many as five goals in a match.
He did it while playing Manchester United against Ipswich Town in March 1995.

United won a 9-0 victory over Cole scoring five, with the other four coming from Roy Keane, Hughes (2), and Paul Ince.
2. Premier League All-Time Top Scorer, Alan Shearer
In September 1995, Alan Shearer became the second player to score five goals in one game.
He joined this list when Newcastle thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 8-0 at St. James’ Park.
Shearer scored five of the goals, two of which were penalties.
Gary Speed, Aaron Hughes and Kieron Dyer scored the others.
He is EPL’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals.

3. Jermain Defoe
It took another ten years for the next player to score five goals in a single game.
Jermain Defoe joined the list in November 2029 when he helped Tottenham Hotspurs to a 9-1 win over Wigan at White Hart Lane.
Defoe scored all the five goals within 36 minutes in the second half.
He scored a hat trick within seven minutes (between 51st and 58th minutes) before adding two more goals.
His hat-trick in Premier League history, with only Sadio Mané (2m 56sec) and Robbie Fowler (4m 33sec) netting hat-tricks in a shorter time.
4. Dimitar Berbatov
The Bulgarian striker joined the ultimate list in 2010 while playing for Manchester United.
He scored five goals in a 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford.
Berbatov opened the scoring after only 2 minutes into the game.
He scored his second just before the half-hour mark, and added a second-half hat-trick, to write his name into the list.

5. Sergio Agüero
Sergio Agüero is a Manchester City and EPL legend.
Agüero scored 260 goals in 390 appearances for Manchester City, making him the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
He scored five goals in 20 minutes when Manchester City came from behind to crush Newcastle 6-1 in October 2015.

Aguero scored with just three minutes before half-time and completed his hat-trick just five minutes after the restart.
He then proceeded to add further goals on the hour mark and in the 62nd minute to equal the Premier League record of five goals.
