The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast for the period between February 18 and February 25, 2025. Kenya Met published the weather outlook amid a decrease in rainfall recorded in various parts of the country.
According to the forecast, Kenyans in most areas across the country will experience predominantly sunny, dry, and hot conditions.

The weatherman however warned that residents in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region (including Nairobi) should brace themselves for low night-time temperatures of below 10°C for the next seven days despite dry conditions recorded in the past weeks.
This region covers Central Kenya counties such as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.

Low night-time temperatures will also be experienced in areas around Central and South Rift Valley, and around Mount Kilimanjaro.
“Daytime sunny intervals are expected to prevail throughout the week. However, a few areas around Mount Kenya are likely to experience occasional afternoon showers. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy,” said Kenya Met.

At the same time, the weatherman predicted that in the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

This area covers the counties of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok.
A few areas over the Lake Victoria Basin may however experience occasional afternoon showers.
On the other hand, Kenya Met said that in the North Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley (Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo and West-Pokot Counties), sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
In North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), sunny conditions are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy though some nights may experience clear skies. Strong south-easterly winds of more than 25 Knots (12.9 m/s) are expected in parts of Turkana County.
Additionally, sunny conditions are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy, though some nights may experience clear skies in North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties).

Weather review for February 10 to February 16
Rainfall was recorded in a few areas over the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, South Rift Valley, Northeastern Kenya, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coastal region.
Comparing the 3 to 9 February 2025 and 10 to 16 February 2025 periods, it is noted that rainfall amounts increased in the areas that received rainfall except a few areas in Migori, Homabay and Kisii counties where rainfall amounts decreased.
The highest seven-day rainfall total (38.2 mm) was recorded at Isiolo Nema rainfall station in Isiolo County.
Miyare rainfall station in Migori recorded the highest amount of rainfall (36.9 mm) within 24-hours on 15 February 2025.
