The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted continued rainfall in several parts of the country over the next five days.
In a five-day forecast released on Saturday for the period between May 23 and May 27, 2026, the department said regions in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast will experience intermittent rainfall, while northern and south-eastern parts of the country are expected to remain sunny and dry.
The department also predicts varying temperature conditions across the country, with the some regions expected to experience high temperatures.
Weather in Western Kenya and Rift Valley
According to the forecast, counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley are expected to receive rainfall from May 23.
The affected counties include Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

According to the the weatherman, most mornings in the region will begin with sunny intervals followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms in a few places.
Night showers are also expected on several days, particularly from Monday through Wednesday.
On Saturday, the region is expected to experience showers and thunderstorms in a few places during the afternoon, followed by showers at night.
Temperatures in the region are expected to remain moderate, with maximum temperatures ranging between 28°C and 30°C.
Minimum temperatures are projected to fall to between 11°C and 13°C, especially in high-altitude areas.
Weather in Nairobi, Central Highlands, and Mt Kenya Region
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties, are expected to experience cloudy mornings throughout the period.
Night showers are also expected in a few areas between Monday and Wednesday as rainfall activity continues across parts of Central Kenya and Nairobi.
The region is expected to experience colder nights, with Minimum temperatures dropping as low as 7°C on Monday. Nyandarua and other high-altitude areas are likely to record the coldest conditions.
Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 27°C to 29°C, resulting in cool conditions.

Northern and South-Eastern Kenya to Remain Hot and Dry
In northern and south-eastern Kenya, the weather is expected to remain sunny and dry over the next five days.
Residents of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are expected to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
Daytime temperatures are projected to reach between 35°C and 37°C.
Similarly, the North Western counties of Turkana and Samburu are expected to remain extremely hot and dry, with maximum temperatures also rising to 37°C.
The South Eastern lowlands covering Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and the inland parts of Tana River County are expected to record mainly sunny conditions with partly cloudy skies at night.
Meanwhile, coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, are expected to receive occasional showers in the mornings and at night.
Afternoon conditions at the Coast are expected to remain sunny, with isolated showers by midweek.
Temperatures at the Coast are forecast to remain warm and humid, with daytime highs ranging between 31°C and 33°C and minimum temperatures between 23°C and 25°C.
