The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced areas that will receive heavy rainfall in the next seven days.
In its seven days rainfall forecast valid between February 27th and March 4th, Kenya Met outlined six regions expected to receive rainfall including areas in Western Kenya, South Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin are expected will be affected.
Other regions listed are Central Highlands, Southeastern Lowlands, and Northwestern Kenya.
“Some areas may see isolated heavy downpours. Moderate rainfall is anticipated in Nairobi County. Remember to stay prepared and safe, everyone!” Kenya Met advised.
Average Temperatures Across the Country
In the seven-day average temperature forecast, the weatherman said Lake Region Counties, Uasin Gishu, Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Nakuru, Kiambu, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot will experience temperatures between 25°C and 30°C.
Average temperatures will range between 25°C to 30°C and 30°C to 35°C in parts of Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Nandi, Trans Nzoia,Baringo, Kajiado, Machakos, Kitui, Meru and Laikipia counties.
“High daytime temperatures (>30°C) forecasted for counties including Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, Laikipia, Baringo, West Pokot, Bungoma, Kakamega and Busia,” read part of the forecast.

The temperatures will range between 20°C to 25°C and rise up to 30°C in Nyeri, Murang’a and Kirinyanga counties.
Additionally, Wajir, Lamu, Kilifi, Kwale, Garissa, Tana River and Turkana will experience an average temperature of over 35°C.
“Chilly nights (<10°C) anticipated in parts of Nyeri, Laikipia, and Murang’a counties. Stay informed and prepared!” said the Department.

Kenya Met Predicts Nairobi Rainfall
This comes after the met department predicted that some parts of Kenyan majorly Nairobi will receive rainfall days after the county experienced extreme heat waves.
In the update on February 24, Kenya Met said the rains are to start from February 24 to March, 1, 2024.
According to KMD, there will be cloudy and light rains in the morning, moderate showers and sunny intervals in the afternoon and moderate showers at night from February 27 to February 28
Afterwards, light rains are expected on Thursday 29 while there will be clear clouds on Friday, March 1.
The weatherman said Dagoretti, Westlands, Langa’ata, Kibra and Wilson will receive moderate to light rain.
Roysambu, Embakasi, Kasarani and Makadara are also among the affected estates in Nairobi.
