Turkana South police officers arrested four people suspected to be behind the highway attacks along the Kainuk-Kaakong route in Turkana County.
According to police report, the suspects were apprehended at KWS area.
Moreover, in the operation led by Kainuk Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Haron Odhiambo and Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) commander Salah Mohammed, two guns and nine rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Furthermore, this operation follows orders issued in May this year by Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Maalim Mohammed to deploy a multi-agency team in the area, to curb crime along the highway.
“The Kitale-Lodwar stretch has claimed lives. The regional security team was split into groups as they tracked down the highway robbers,” Maalim stated.
Likewise, Maalim reported that an operation is currently ongoing to make sure that those in ownership of illegal weapons are arrested and prosecuted.

At the same time, the arrest of the four suspects come as a relief to motorists plying the route, after living in fear for months.
