The Selection Panel for the Recruitment of nominees for appointments for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has published the names of shortlisted candidates who applied for the advertised vacant positions.
In a notice dated Friday, March 14, the Panel announced that it has shortlisted 11 candidates out of the 37 who applied for the IEBC Chairperson position.

Among the shortlisted candidates for the position are former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Atieno Amadi and former East Africa Court of Justice (EACJ) judge Charles Ayako Nyachae.
On the other hand, the Nelson Makanda-led panel published the names of 105 shortlisted candidates out of the 1,319 who applied for the position of members of the electoral commission.

The commission also published the date and time for the respective oral interviews.
“NOW THEREFORE the Selection Panel hereby publishes the names of applicants shortlisted for the position of Chairperson and Member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as well as the date and time for the respective oral interviews,” reads the notice in part.

Anne Amadi, Charles Nyachae Shortlisted for IEBC Chairperson Job
Besides Amadi and Nyachae, shortlisted candidates for the IEBC Chairperson position include Abdulqadir Lorot H. Ramadhan and Edward Katama Ngeywa whose interviews shall be conducted on Monday, March 24.
Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, and Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo have also been shortlisted with their interviews slated for Tuesday, March 25.

On the other hand, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene, Robert Akumu Asembo, and Saul Simiyu Wasilwa will be interviewed on March Wednesday, March 26 for the same position.
The IEBC Selection Panel at the same time published the names of a total number of 105 shortlisted candidates for the IEBC members’ positions whose interviews will commence on Thursday, March 27 and end on Thursday, April 25.
According to the panel’s chairperson, the oral interviews shall be held in the Ballroom at the College of insurance, South C in Nairobi County and shall be conducted in public.
“For the oral interviews, shortlisted applicants are required to bring with them their original national identity card or passport and the originals of their testimonials and/or certificates but should ensure that these are returned to them before leaving the interview venue,” the notice adds.

Further, individual candidates shall be contacted directly in the event of any changes to the interview dates and/or time.
Shortlisted applicants should also bring with them current and valid clearances from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Commission for University Education (for applicants with degrees from foreign universities) and any of the Credit Reference Bureaus.
At the same time, the Nelson Makanda-led panel invited members of the public to avail, in writing, under oath, by memoranda, any information of interest with respect to the suitability of any of the shortlisted applicants.
Memoranda may be forwarded to the Selection Panel using the contact: The Chairperson of the Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for appointment as the Chairperson and Members of the IEBC, through registered mail.
It may also be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope between 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. to the Chairperson of the Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for appointment as the Chairperson and Members of the IEBC, 3rd Floor, County House Building. Parliament Road or submitted online as a PDF file format attachment by emailing to lebcselectionpanel2025@parliament.go.ke.
Memoranda from members of the public
The memoranda in respect of an applicant for Chairperson of the IEBC should be received by March 19 at 5.00 pm (East African Time).

In addition, the memoranda in respect of an applicant for Member of the IEBC should be received by March 26, at 5.00 pm (East African Time).
“Any attempt by an applicant to canvass or otherwise influence the selection process will automatically disqualify the applicant from the process,” the notice adds.
Applicants
Earlier, Makanda said the Selection Panel had received 1848 applications by hand delivery, post and email at the close of the application period.
The Selection Panel collated the applications and found that 211 applicants sent multiple applications 91 applicants failed to indicate and reference the positions applied for as provided in the advertisement; and 14 sent applications for positions not advertised.
Further, 176 applicants sent replies to the automated response received after sending in their applications through email.
Makanda stated that the total number of applications received was, therefore 1356.
