The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a statement after a fire broke out at the parking lot of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The Tuesday, November 19 statement confirmed that the incident took place in the afternoon. However, the fire and rescue teams responded and prevented any escalation.
The incident took place on Level I of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) parking garage
“The authority’s fire and rescue teams responded promptly and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing further damage or escalation.

KAA Details Vehicles Damaged During the JKIA Fire
Further, the statement noted that apart from the vehicle involved, no other car was damaged.
“No other vehicles were damaged. We want to assure all passengers, airport users, and stakeholders that their safety and security remain our top priority,” the statement read in part.
Moreover, KAA indicated that they had launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
“Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. Operations at Jomo Kenya International Airport are normal,” stated KAA.

Kenya Airways CEO Lands New Role
Earlier, the national courier announced that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Allan Kilavuka had been appointed the new chairperson of Africa’s Airlines Association (AFRAA).
Kenya Airways stated that the appointment took place at the 56th Annual General Assembly and Summit in Cairo, Egypt.
Kilavuka will lead the association for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
“This appointment is a significant development that will shape the future of Africa’s aviation industry,” read the statement in part.
As the newly appointed AFRAA Chairperson, Kilavuka will oversee the organization’s strategic direction.
He will also champion the interests of member airlines and advocate for policies aimed at fostering growth, sustainability, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Africa’s aviation sector.
