The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of sections of the Haile Selassie Road in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
In a statement on Friday, April 12, the authority indicated that Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road will be closed between April 13, 2024, at 10.00 PM and Sunday April 14, 2024, at 5.00 PM.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road.”
“In addition, this closure is scheduled to commence from Saturday April 13, 2024, at 10.00pm to Sunday April 14, 2024, at 5.00am,” the statement read in part.

Further, the highways authority explained that the move was to allow for installation of Service Ducts.
A service duct is a tube that holds set up cables and wires hiding them from plain view and ensuring that they look and tidy after installment.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” stated KeNHA.
Closure of Another Road
On the other hand, KeNHA notified members of the public of a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill Bound Lanes) between Rubis/Neno Evangelism church detour and Haile Selassie roundabout.
The closure is scheduled to begin on Sunday April 14, 2024, at 10.00pm until Monday April 15, 2024, at 5.00am.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill Bound Lanes) between Rubis/Neno Evangelism church detour and Haile Selassie roundabout,” another statement indicated.
KeNHA First Closure of the Road Over Service Ducts
The closure will be the second time in two consecutive weeks the authority closes down the road for installation of service ducts.
Earlier on Friday, April 5, KeNHA notified the public of a scheduled closure of the road for two days providing alternative routes for smooth traffic flow.

At the same time, the notice detailed the unaffected CBD routes motorists could make use of during the period.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road.
“Additionally, this closure is scheduled to commence from Friday April 5, 2024, at 10.00pm to Saturday April 6, 2024, at 5.00amam,” read the notice in part.
