Car dealer and social media influencer Khalif Kairo’s mother has died.
Mrs. Wambui died on the morning of 15th February 2026 while receiving treatment in India.
Confirming the demise, Kairo has shared a tribute to the loss of her mother on X.
“We lost our mum earlier today after a long and bravely fought battle with illness,” said Kairo on X
The family has not yet disclosed what sickness Mrs. Wambui was battling that led to her death.

Khalif Kairo Mourns loss of mother
Kairo, the son of Mrs. Wambui, has penned a heartfelt message, mourning the loss of her mother.
“Our hearts are heavy, but we are grateful to God for the time, love, memories, and lessons she gave us. She fought with strength and grace, and we thank God for every moment we shared with her,” said Kairo.
For years, Kairo has been sharing how he grew up in Kawangware under the custody of her mum, who owned a kiosk, and later relocated to the United States in 2017.
Kairo, whose real name is Joseph Kairo Wambui, uses his mom’s surname, and he has been receiving trolls on social media concerning the name.
“Rendezvousing with my mother, Wambui, for a dinner date in New York, 10 years ago, we lived in Kawangware, but her prayers & resilience brought us here. Now for the trolls who make fun of my feminine surname, hope you’re treating the fathers you named after at a higher standard,” read a post from Kairo in 2023.
A Life of Strength and Sacrifice
Wambui was known for her resilience and dedication to raising her family, especially in the challenging environment of Kawangware, where they first lived.
Her influence shaped Khalif into the entrepreneur and social media personality he is today, and her legacy will live on through him and the family she nurtured.
Kairo has often spoken publicly about the pride he holds in his mother’s strength and determination.
At a point, Kairo shared how her mum paid for his ticket to Dubai, to start his company Kai and Karo, a car sales firm in Nairobi.

Since the announcement of her passing, tributes have poured in from fans, fellow influencers, and public figures, especially on X, where he has a big influence.
“My heart aches for you and your family. There are truly no words deep enough for a loss this significant. I am praying that you feel carried by love and that you find God’s peace that passes all understanding in the quiet moments. She will always be a part of you,” condoled West Beumant.
His business partners have also shared condolence messages.
