According to a State House alert, the address will be delivered from State House, Nairobi, at 7:00 p.m. today.
State House issued the notice hours after President Ruto and his Deputy Kithure Kindiki shared photos on Wednesday night. There have been reports of a rift between Ruto and Kindiki, with murmurs that the President could drop the Professor of Law as his running mate ahead of the 2027 polls.
At the same time, Ruto is under pressure to reshuffle his cabinet.

The State House teaser ahead of the Special National Address highlights Kenya’s development aspirations and the importance of building a stronger future.
Further, the State House message states that countries can transform their fortunes within a generation, while those that fail to make progress risk falling behind.
It also calls on Kenyans to raise their ambitions and help shape a new vision for the country, emphasizing that the responsibility lies not only with leaders and government but with all citizens.
“A nation is not ultimately defined by where it begins, or where it stands today, but by the future it has the courage to build. Countries that were once poor can change their fortunes in just a generation, and those that stand still risk sliding backward,” the statehouse message said.

Ruto-Kindiki Rift Claims
Speculation over the relationship between President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has intensified following a series of developments that have fueled claims of tensions within the top leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The claims gained momentum after reports suggested that some intergovernmental coordination functions had been reassigned from the Deputy President’s office to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Kindiki dismissed the reports, stating that nothing had changed regarding his constitutional roles and responsibilities.

“Nothing has changed,” the Deputy President shared in a post on July 28.
The speculation was further fueled by reports that a personal assistant attached to the Deputy President had been removed from a State House WhatsApp communication group. No official explanation has been issued regarding the reported removal.
On the night of July 29, Kindiki shared photographs at around 11:00 p.m. showing him meeting President Ruto at State House, Nairobi, signaling continued engagement between the two leaders despite the ongoing speculation.
