However, most of the applicants have been receiving an error message.
Many of the interested and qualified candidates have consequently been unable to submit their applications.

TSC in a statement on Wednesday October 3 responded to the complaints, saying that it is experiencing technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal.

Teachers Unable to Apply for 46,000 TSC Jobs
The statement comes after many teachers applying for the opportunities voiced their frustrations fearing that they might be locked out as the application deadline set for October 7, approaches.
“An error occurred. Sorry, the page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Please try again later.
“If you are the system administrator of this resource then you should check the error log for details. Faithfully yours, Open Resty,” the application error message reads.

TSC had in a notice on Tuesday October 1, invited applications from qualified teachers to fill 39,550 posts for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), 6,000 posts for Primary Schools, and 450 posts for Secondary Schools.
Interested and qualified candidates were directed to submit their applications online through the commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, not later than set deadline date, at midnight.
Further, the Nancy Macharia-led commission explained that serving interns are expected to apply in their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations, and that will only be required to present their identity cards during the verification process.

The recruitment exercise is free of charge, and TSC has warned applicants against fraudsters who might ask for money, pretending to assist in recruitment.
Contract extension
In late August this year, the teachers’ commission started extending the contracts for all intern teachers whose contracts expired in September.
TSC started inviting the 20,000 intern teachers whom it had engaged in September 2023, to renew their internship contracts and extend by 4 months.
This meant that the intern teachers would serve for more than one year contrary to what the initial internship agreement read in case of contract renewal.
The internship contracts for the intern teachers were expected to expire on 31st August 2024 upon the lapse of the one-year contract period that was set from last year.
