Launch of TEP
On October 4, 2026, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was formally installed as the leader of The Equitable Party (TEP) during a launch ceremony in Nairobi, where outgoing officials handed over the party’s leadership.
Sifuna was also named the party’s preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election.
TEP party leader Gilbert Marava said the party had resolved to restructure its leadership to accommodate Sifuna and his supporters.
“On our end, we have decided to restructure, and in the process, those who registered will stay, and we will bring in our brothers,” Marava said.
Marava added that Sifuna was expected to run for president under the party’s ticket and take over its leadership.
