Bank customers in Kenya pay different amounts for everyday services depending on the institution, account type, and channel used.

A review by The Kenya Times of the latest tariffs from major banks shows that charges range from as little as zero to hundreds of shillings for a single transaction.

The comparison covers Equity Bank, KCB, Co-operative Bank, NCBA and Absa, focusing on services including ATM withdrawals, over-the-counter withdrawals, electronic transfers, PesaLink, mobile-wallet transfers and account-related charges.

Banks’ tariffs vary by account and transaction channel, and some published fees exclude taxes.

ATM and Cash Withdrawal Charges

ATM withdrawals at a customer’s own bank are relatively uniform among the banks reviewed. Equity charges KSh30 for an Equity ATM withdrawal, while KCB also charges KSh30.

NCBA also charges KSh30 for withdrawals at its own ATMs. However, the fee rises to KSh68 when customers use PesaConnect ATMs and KSh150 when using Visa ATMs.

Equity Bank charges KSh200 when customers withdraw cash through another bank’s ATM.

For cash withdrawals at branches, NCBA charges KSh325 for consumer over-the-counter withdrawals below KSh80,000, while withdrawals above KSh80,000 and below KSh1 million attract KSh100.

Absa charges KSh400 for counter withdrawals below KSh40,000 and KSh310 for withdrawals above KSh40,000 in its latest published tariff guide dated 29 April 2026.

Co-operative Bank’s June 2025 tariff guide lists KSh100 for over-the-counter withdrawals from transactional accounts. The charges vary according to the specific account. Its digital banking tariff lists KSh30 for ATM withdrawals.

PesaLink, Mobile Money and Bank Transfers

NCBA’s May 2026 tariff charges KSh90 for mobile EFT, compared with KSh500 for manual EFT. mobile RTGS costs KSh300, while manual RTGS is KSh500.

NCBA’s PesaLink charges are free for KSh10–500, KSh50 for KSh501–10,000, and KSh100 for amounts above KSh10,000. A manual PesaLink transaction attracts KSh500.

Equity charges KSh500 for RTGS and KSh200 for outward EFT. Transfers within Equity cost KSh50 through EazzyBiz, while transfers within Equity through mobile banking are free.

Co-op’s tariff guide shows that transfers to M-Pesa or Airtel Money cost between KSh0 and KSh50, while PesaLink transactions range from KSh0 to KSh140 depending on the amount.

Account, Card and Other Banking Fees

Account maintenance charges also depend heavily on the product. KCB’s Personal Current Account under Sahl Banking lists a KSh300 maintenance fee, a KSh35 ledger fee per entry, and a minimum monthly charge of KSh350. Its ATM card costs KSh430 and ATM withdrawals cost KSh30.

Some KCB accounts, however, have zero monthly maintenance fees. Its Bankika Transactional Account, for example, has no monthly fee but charges KSh30 per ATM withdrawal and KSh200 for over-the-counter withdrawals.

At Absa, account charges vary substantially by product. The 2026 tariff lists monthly maintenance of KSh3,100 for Premier Current Account, KSh1,500 for Prestige Plus Bouquet and KSh350 for Prestige Current Account. It also lists KSh590 per page for duplicate statements and KSh4,000 for a cheque returned for Refer to Drawer.
