The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has predicted that several regions across the country will continue to receive rainfall between May 9th and 13th, 2025.
In its weekly weather forecast, Kenya Met said certain regions will experience isolated heavy rains during this period.

This includes parts of the Central Highlands, Western, North-western and North-eastern Kenya.
“Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events are expected over parts of the Highlands in East and West of the Rift Valley, as well as in North-western and North-eastern Kenya,” reads part of the Forecast.

Morning rain is expected to be over a few places in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several places; with night showers expected over a few places.

Counties in these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok.
North-Western Kenya
Similarly, Turkana and Samburu counties will experience morning rain as well as afternoon and night showers.
Kenya Met also warned that thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places during the forecast period.
Weather Forecast for Nairobi & its Environs
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley which includes Nairobi, mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County
Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places, occasionally spreading to several places.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.
Elsewhere, counties in North-Eastern Kenya will experience morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers.
Thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places. Counties in this region include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.
Kenya Met Predicts Thunderstorms in South-Eastern Lowlands
In the southeastern lowlands, residents have been asked to brace for sunny intervals in the morning.
Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are also likely to occur over a few places.
This applies to Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
Coastal Weather Prediction
Morning, afternoon, and night showers are expected over a few places, occasionally spreading to several places along the Coast.
It includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County.

Average maximum daytime temperatures of more than 33°C will be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
Average night-time temperatures will be less than 12°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley.
