A police officer who was injured while confronting protesters in Kisumu on Thursday, March 30, 2023, has succumbed to his injuries.
Ben Oduor serving at the Keroka Police Station in Nyamira was on duty at the Jamia Supermarket area during the demonstrations when he and his fellow officers were overwhelmed by the growing number of rioters.
According to a police report seen by The Kenya Times, the said officer was seriously injured after the rioters started throwing stones at them.

The officers had run out of teargas when the youthful rioters charged into the supermarket, stole, and destroyed goods.
Hussein Hassan, the owner, condemned the incident saying he lost goods worth millions of shillings.
“What have I done to warrant such destruction? What problem do the people have with me,” he wondered.
“I have a family and people taking care of and I don’t know where to start.”
CPL Ben Oduor was rushed to the Aga Khan hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment at ICU.
The body is currently lying at the hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
