A woman and her one-year-old son were mauled to death by dogs on Monday May 1, 2022 in Siranga village Ugenya Sub County.
The woman is said to have been passing beside the road with her son when the rogue dogs attacked. The two dogs belonged to a local in the village. The homes keeper reported that the dogs had runaway from their kennel the previous night and efforts to trace them proved futile.
Confirming the incident, Ugenya deputy OCPD James Ngao reported that it was until Monday morning at around 6 am that they got information about the incident. He further informed the press that members of the public who had dashed to the victims’ cries managed to kill the dogs.
The police boss added that he sent his officers who rushed to the scene and unfortunately found the woman and the child who had dog bites all over their bodies already dead.
The bodies of the lady and her son were taken to Ukwala Sub County Mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations.
The police boss told the press that the owner of the dogs will help in the investigations and may be charged with negligence if found culpable.
