The National Police Service (NPS) has revealed details of a police officer who succumbed to stab injuries following a violent confrontation at an entertainment joint in Embakasi, Nairobi.
NPS Spokesperson Dr. Resila Anyango while speaking to The Kenya Times (TKT) on Saturday confirmed the incident, noting that the stabbing incident happened at the parking lot of Blackwood Bar and Restaurant in Embakasi, early Saturday morning.
According to the police report seen by The Kenya Times, a violent confrontation ensued at the parking lot of the entertainment joint which was hosting Kalenjin Night.
The manager of the bar sent a distress call and when police officers arrived at the scene, they found that a man had been killed.
“It was reported by a manager of Blackwood Bar and Restaurant. He reported through a distress call to duty officer villa that they had a Kalenjin night on the above venue and that today 10/08/2024 at around 0450hrs there was a commotion at the parking yard and one gentleman got stabbed,” read part of the report.
Police revealed that the officers who had rushed to the scene found the male adult lying dead in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the right side of the neck at the parking yard.

The officers upon searching identified the deceased as a fellow cop attached to the Administration Police (AP) department.
“Upon searching, they noticed that the deceased is a male adult Administration Police officer attached to Jogoo House,” the report adds.

Further, police have revealed that the scene has been processed by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel and investigations launched by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives based at Embakasi.
The body of the deceased has since been transferred to the Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
This incident is among recent incidents involving officers caught up in violent confrontations while in entertainment joints.
Back in February, residents from Kitale town in Trans Nzoia County were left in shock after a police officer shot dead another officer at a liquor shop within the town.
The incident, which happened on February 26, also involved an Administration Police officer who pulled the trigger that resulted to the tragic demise.

Meanwhile, a police officer from the Makongeni Police Station in Nairobi narrowly escaped a violent mob after he struck a pedestrian on Lusaka Road on Friday, August 9, evening.
According to a police report seen by The Kenya Times, the incident occurred around 6:45 pm when the officer, driving an Isuzu NQR Canter, was en route to City Stadium.
Upon arriving at Lusaka Road, he collided with a male pedestrian who died instantly.

Following the accident, the officer was surrounded by irate boda boda riders and other members of the public who demanded retribution.
The mob proceeded to attack his vehicle, hurling stones and ultimately setting it ablaze. The fire caused significant damage, destroying the front cabin seat and the left passenger door of the vehicle.
A police patrol unit, which happened to be nearby, quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the officer. He sustained injuries to his right elbow and multiple injuries to his back, prompting his immediate transport to Huruma Nursing Home for medical treatment.
In response, the patrol team, along with traffic officers, worked to calm the situation and documented the aftermath of the incident.
