Amid the ongoing investigation into the death of socialite Starlet Wahu, a lady has come out to accuse John Matara, the suspect in the case, of assaulting her.
Speaking to the media on Friday, January 6, on the condition to remain anonymous, the lady narrated her ordeal with the suspect who she met on an online dating site.
According to her account, everything about the man seemed right to her and they even exchanged phone numbers.
Days after knowing each other, the two slated a meeting at a Nairobi Airbnb, oblivious of the trap she was leading herself to.
On the fateful day, she went on, Matara reportedly picked her from an uber before leading her to an Airbnb.
“I met this guy on a dating site we exchanged numbers and decided to meet at a certain Airbnb,” she recounted.
All this time, there was nothing to signal an alarm to her or reveal his other violent side.
However, the date took an unprecedented turn at midnight when the suspect allegedly turned violent and demanded access to the lady’s accounts.
Lady recounts near death encounter
According to the revelation, the suspect used a knife and a hot iron box to threaten his victim into disclosing her account’s security details.
Further, the lady divulged that Matara asked for Ksh50,000 and she went on to transfer the amount in full out of fear.
While speaking in the interview, the lady had marks on her neck which were apparently recovering bruises.
“After everything was done, I gave him my accounts and he saw the amount of money I had. I did everything he asked, and I can testify that,” she said.

Her case was recorded at Makadara Police Station to add to the ongoing investigations into the death of Wahu.
Starlet Wahu last moments with Matara
Matara was arrested on Thursday, January 5 at the Mbagathi Hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted for treatment on a stab wound.
In a CCTV footage obtained from the building where slain Wahu and Matara spent the night, the two were seen waiting to take a lift from the building’s basement to the fourth floor.

Wahu’s lifeless body would later be discovered in the room prompting investigation from security agencies.
After a forensic search at the scene, police found a used HIV testing kit, drugs, used condoms- among other items taken as exhibit.
Meanwhile, Wahu’s body was on Friday, January 6, buried at her family’s home in Ruai in a ceremony exclusive to close friends and family members.
