The prime suspect in the murder case of the late Nairobi Hospital finance director Eric Maigo, Anne Adhiambo, is now set to face murder charges.
This is after the prosecution told the court that investigations into the suspect’s involvement in the gruesome killing are complete.

Additionally, the most important pieces of evidence were the CCTV footage and blood stains from the murder scene which were yet to be analyzed at the time of the arraignment.
In this case, detectives placed the suspect at the scene where Eric Maigo’s body was found with 25 stab wounds.

This is the latest development after the prime suspect was arrested on September 2 and booked at the Kilimani Police station.
Consequently, she was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on September 27.

Eric Maigo Suspect detained
The police obtained orders from the court to have her detained for 21 days pending further investigations into the matter.
“The continued detention of the respondent is immensely necessary for the furtherance and finalising of the investigations, his release could further lead to interference with the investigation, ” the lead investigative officer, Officer Patrick Boge said in his affidavit presented to the court on the matter.
Further, Officer Boge stated that he was yet to record statements from the key witnesses, take fingerprints, do photo profiling.
Additionally, he also told the court that he wished to ascertain her previous criminal record, take the respondent for DNA sampling for analysis by the government chemist, trace, and arrest respondent associates.
Notably, since the suspect is a minor, he said he also needed to escort the girl for both mental and age assessment.
Further, the officer stated that he would subject her to a medical examination to ascertain injuries inflicted when escaping from the crime scene.
Public helped police nab suspect
On the arrest of the suspect, the officer noted that assistance from the public had been crucial in the case.

Additionally, the 0fficer told the court that on September 15, a report was made by Amina Komara at Kibra police station that there was a commotion at house number 6 in Woodley Estate Annex Upper of Kibra.
He said a team of police officers from Kilimani subcounty visited the crime scene and established that the deceased Eric Maigo, 37, was lying with multiple stab wounds on the chest, face and neck and secured the scene.
Eric Maigo was laid to rest in his Keboba home in Nyaribari Chache in Kisii in early October in a low-key ceremony.
