Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Ugandan national househelp involved in a robbery incident targeting her Kenyan employer in Nairobi.
DCI in a statement on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, said that the suspect who had earlier been declared as wanted was apprehended while attempting to flee to her native country of Uganda following the robbery incident which unfolded back in November 2024.
The suspect had on Friday, November 1, 2024, around 4:40 PM, helped an individual armed with a hammer manage to enter her employer’s house at located on the sixth floor of Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh.
The tenant, a Somali man, was not at home at the time of the incident, with DCI reporting that he was out with his children while his wife was reported to be in India for medical treatment.
After gaining entry, the assailant, who is reportedly also a Ugandan national, assaulted the arrested suspect’s fellow 20-year-old Somali househelp named Hakimo Muhidin with assistance from his accomplice.
Various valuable items were pilfered during the incident including pieces of gold jewelry, cash in both Kenyan Shillings and United States (U.S.) dollars, as well as four laptops belonging to the family, which were reported stolen during the incident.

Househelp injured during Eastleigh robbery incident
Hakimo Muhidin sustained serious injuries, including a broken tooth and injuries to her hand, head, and legs. Additionally, she exhibited signs of having been whipped, with visible marks on her back.

“In a shocking turn of events, the duo reportedly assaulted the other maid, leaving her for dead in the bathroom. They then made off with a haul that included a gold set valued at Ksh210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop worth Ksh110,000, and an Infinix phone priced at Ksh15,000,” the statement reads.
Following the robbery, the Ugandan househelp who had joined the household three weeks prior to the incident, managed to escape alongside the assailant.
Detectives launched a probe into the incident which was recorded on CCTV which led to the arrest of the Ugandan woman.

She was apprehended at Kariokor while attempting to escape on a bus bound for Uganda.Â
The 23-year-old was taken into custody by detectives from DCI Starehe where she is set to undergo processing, pending arraignment.
The investigative agency has since reported that the Somali house help who was injured during the robbery incident is currently recovering at a relative’s home in the Tassia estate area after she was discharged having received medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the manhunt for her accomplice, who remains at large, is still in full swing.
