A woman identified as Kawira Kanyaru, is on the run after sprinting and evading Nyumba Kumi members in Kabachi, Meru County.
According to a statement by the Directorate of criminal investigations (DCI) on Monday, February 19, the incident occurred when she dropped a pistol in a shopping bag during the chase.
Detectives are actively pursuing her on grounds that she may have crucial information about a murder suspect still at large.
The recovered firearm, a Retay Falcon pistol, was initially believed to be in the possession of wanted suspect Robert Meeme.
Details of the Murder Case
Meeme, along with Kawira’s father, William Kanyaru, and another suspect, Japhet Johana, are linked to a murder case from February 17, 2024, involving a historical land dispute.
The incident happened at a farm in Luthaya village of Kabachi, where the three suspects allegedly ambushed the deceased’s son armed with a pistol, a panga, and a knife.
