The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has opened applications for teachers and tutors seeking to be trained as examiners for the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examinations.
In a notice published on Friday, July 10, KNEC said the training programme, which will be conducted between July and August 2026, will prepare qualified teachers to participate in the marking of national examinations.
“KNEC is inviting applications from qualified teachers and tutors to train as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination. The training will be conducted partially online and later physically between July and August 2026,” the examination body said.
According to KNEC, only shortlisted applicants will be required to pay a training fee of Ksh10,500. The successful applicants will receive payment instructions through SMS and the KNEC examiners’ application portal.
The training will be conducted through a blended approach, with online sessions held before trainees attend in-person residential training.
Qualified examiners will thereafter be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA and KCSE papers using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper.

Requirements to Become a KNEC Examiner
KNEC said interested applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be a practising teacher or tutor in the relevant subject area at the examination level or above;
Be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or Public Service Commission;
Have a Diploma in Education or higher qualification and a minimum teaching experience of three years;
The applicant should not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by the employer;
Applicants must be recommended by their Head of Institution; and be aged 50 years and below.

How to Apply for KNEC Examiner Training
Teachers interested in becoming KCSE or KJSEA examiners should apply through the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
Those with existing CP2 accounts should log in using their usernames and passwords.
Applicants who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on the “Reset Password” option and enter their mobile number in the format 2547******** to receive new login details.
Teachers without CP2 accounts should select “Create Account” and follow the instructions to obtain login credentials.
After successful login, applicants should complete and update their personal profiles before selecting “Apply for training” on the dashboard to view available vacancies.
KNEC said only qualified teachers who provide all required documents will be shortlisted, with selection being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
