Beatrice Mutei Kyallo, better known as Betty Kyallo, is a prominent Kenyan media personality, journalist, and entrepreneur.
She was born on March 15, 1989, and remains a leading figure in Kenya’s entertainment and lifestyle sectors.
Betty returned to television in May 2024 as the host of ‘This Friday with Betty’ on Kenya’s TV47, after previously working in KTN and K24.
She is the CEO of After Shave by Betty, a venture she opened following the collapse of Flaire by Betty.
Betty’s Early Life and Educational Background
Betty Kyallo was born on 15 March 1989 in Ongata Rongai, Kenya’s Kajiado County.
Being the second child in her family, she has two sisters, namely Mercy Kyallo and Gloria Kyallo, and one brother, Brian Kyallo.
She is the daughter of Julia Ngii and Wilfred Kyallo, who have been present in her life despite their marital separation.
Betty attended Olerai Primary School and Uhuru Gardens Primary School.
For her secondary education, she attended Kangundo Girls’ High School and later Daystar University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication.
Betty’s Career
She joined Kenya Television Network (KTN), where she worked as an intern, and was later taken in as a news anchor, airing the 9 pm news on Fridays, which was called ‘the Friday Briefing.’

She later joined K24, where she aired the weekend ‘Up Close with Betty’ program, quitting years later and starting her own salon and spa business in Kilimani named Flair by Betty.
In mid-2021, Betty started another business, Aftershave by Flair Barbershop, that now has branches in Nairobi and Meru.
She also ventured into the apparel sector and started the Bk Closet.
On June 17, 2022, Showmax introduced ‘The Kyallo Kulture’, a Kenyan reality series featuring Betty and her two sisters, Mercy and Gloria.
In May 2024, Betty announced her return to TV as a news anchor after 4 years away.
She is now the host of the show “This Friday with Betty” on TV 47, which airs every Friday at 9 pm.
Achievements and awards
In 2017, SOMA awarded Betty Kyallo the media personality of Kenya.
Betty emerged as the winner of the K0T 2018 Awards.
She was named the Most Influential Person in Media in Kenya in 2019 by Avance Media, a ranking the company does annually.
In 2020, Betty won the TV/online influencer award at the Africa Digital Influencer Awards (ADIA20).

In 2020, she was also named among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans by Africa Youth Awards and Avance Media, both of which recognized her impact in media and entrepreneurship across the continent.
She was also named among the top 200 Most Influential African Women on Twitter in the same year.
Family Background
Betty Kyalo married internet and media personality Dennis Okari on October 2, 2015, in a private event-only ceremony held in Karen, and the couple divorced six months later.
She has one daughter, Ivanna, from that marriage with Okari, and the two continue to co-parent and be present in their daughter’s life, as seen in photos celebrating her birthdays from time to time.
Betty has been in a relationship with Charlie Lemny (Charlie Jones), and the two celebrated their 2nd anniversary in November 2025.
In December 2025, Betty announced that she is pregnant with Charlie’s child, sharing professional maternity photos on her social media platforms.
