Popular Comedian Eric Omondi has refunded Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria the money he used to fund his United States trip.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, Eric is seen flaunting notes as he hands the cash over to Moses Kuria.
The former Churchill Show comedian announced the refund in a video he posted on his social media.
“Today, I have officially refunded Mheshimiwa (Honourable) all his money that he used to pay for my trip to the USA. I have sent the rest through @officialpaysii,” he said.
Previously, the two had clashed when Kuria questioned why Eric criticized him despite having sponsored his trip to the United States seven years ago.
Speaking during a past interview on Citizen TV, the CS expressed his regret for funding Eric’s trip.
“I have heard Eric Omondi who has said he is a youth, seven years ago I used my money to fund him to go to America so he can be exposed but the way he’s talking right now, I wish I used that money to party,” the CS said.

Kuria’s remarks came after Eric Omondi raised concerns about the proposed housing levy, saying that no Kenyan is without shelter, however, several people are barely affording basic needs.
“There are no homeless people in Kenya but there are thousands of families and children who are going hungry. The conversation should be about the high cost of living that President Ruto, then a candidate, promised to lower. We are having the wrong conversation,” said Omondi.
Kenyans react to Eric Omondi move
Eric’s actions elicited mixed reactions on social media with some criticizing the CS for taking back the money while others thought it was just an advertisement.
An Instagram user going by the name shiru. keymani joked about Kuria standing by and receiving the money as Eric counted it.
“And he just stood there and took it back?”
Scripted.nairobian jokingly said, “Kuna mtu anaangalia na hajakula sapa,” (There’s someone watching yet they haven’t had supper)

Stanley.Mwaniki recounted Eric saying that he would refund the money and reminded him to pay with interest.
“Aki Eric hujui jokes, nakumbuka ukisema utamlipa….I hope umelipa hadi na interest fee,” (Eric you don’t joke, I remember you said you’ll pay him back. I hope you paid with interest).

Moses Kuria Stance on Finance Bill
Moses Kuria’s remarks came at a time when there was a heated debate about the proposed Finance Bill which Kenyans felt would hike the cost of living.
However, Eric was not the only one who faced backlash from the CS as he also criticized Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah‘s reactions towards the bill claiming that he had not read it.
“Okiya has not read the Finance Bill, but he is listening to what other politicians are saying,” Kuria said.
