Reports that comedian Eric Omondi is eyeing the Lang’ata parliamentary seat in 2027 caught the attention of the incumbent lawmaker Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o.
Speaking at Obinna Show, Jalang’o revealed that he has talked to Eric Omondi regarding his intentions adding that the laugh master was doing a good job with the sisi kwa sisi project.
“I told Eric Omondi that the space he got himself is very good, the sisi kwa sisi thing is very good. It has come at the right time when people are saying things are a bit tough, and he is coming through and doing a good job,” said Jalang’o.
He went on to advise Eric not to confuse social media followership with political popularity and voter turnout.
“Let me tell you, politics and social media are two different things. I had 2.6 million followers in the last election, I struggled to get forty thousand to vote,” he said.
Advise to Celebrities
Jalang’o further advised celebrities planning to join politics not to completely rely on their names and social media to win elections.
“Any celebrity out of there, wishing to join politics, yes, your name will help you but don’t think that social media is where to gauge your votes. If it were that Bahati would be Mathare MP today, but he was number 3,” he stated.
The MP said he will run again in 2027 and win just like he did in the last elections.
He revealed that he learnt a lot in the political world, adding that he wouldn’t have joined politics if he had some of the information before making the switch.
“Now that I am in politics, it becomes a lifetime thing because number one you are politically exposed. There is no one who will want to employ you again, so we are in this journey to change the life of the people,” he said.
Jalang’o on Resigning as MP
He also explained that the dysfunctional Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is the only thing blocking him from resigning and seeking fresh mandate from the people.
The MP said if there was an IEBC he would resign, contest for the ODM party ticket and win the seat the again.
“I am man enough, but the question is even if I had to resign today, there is no one to conduct the elections,” he said.
“If they want to go back to the elections I will go back, then they call nominations, then I beat all of them again and become an ODM MP,” added Jalang’o.

He emphasized that he still a member of the ODM party adding that he enjoys a good relationship with the party leader Raila Odinga.
According to Jalang’o, several MPs went to the State House, but he is the only one who is being attacked by a section of the ODM party.
“There are people who talk, and they can’t even reach Raila, even if I call him right now, he will pick up because he knows I am his son.
Everybody has been seeing the president, but people only focus on Jalang’o telling you that I am still Heavy J Baba,” he explained.

ODM Ticket
Besides, Jalang’o narrated how he fought with other five candidates for the ODM ticket in Lang’ata.
He recalled how he picked his certificate at house in the Constituency adding that majority of the members never wanted him to be ODM’s candidate.
“I should have taken my certificate from the National Elections Board but that time there was so much going on. I put up a big fight because nobody wanted me to have the certificate,” he said.
He also dismissed claims that he was awarded the MP post revealing that he sacrificed and spent huge amounts of money to win the seat.
Jalang’o explained that he had a contract with KISS FM to resume work immediately in case he lost the election.
