Former Citizen TV host Kimani Mbugua can heave a sigh of relief after TikTok content creator Nyako raised more than Ksh420,000 on Tuesday, September 26 to go towards getting him back on his feet.
Nyako announced this in one of her TikTok live videos where she asked Kimani to guess the amount which they had garnered.
Further, she revealed that she had so far collected Ksh 420,000, something that really impressed Kimani.
“So we are at Ksh420,000,” she revealed.
That figure doubled the amount he had requested as he had pleaded for Ksh200,000 to start a business and boost his finances.
In his response, Kimani Mbugua expressed gratitude saying; “Thank you! Thank you so much. I never would have imagined it would be like this. I am so grateful to all of you.”

Kimani Mbugua asks for Help
In a viral video on September 24, the former TV personality pleaded with Kenyans, revealing that he was on the edge.
“I fell ill in 2020. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and since then my life has fallen apart. I have lost so many things; I have lost so many friends on the journey.
People got tired of me and I’m in a position where most people are not willing to help,” he narrated.
Additionally, he explained his ordeal and the challenges that he was facing that included lack of a place to stay.
“I got out of the hospital literally last week and I feel my mind has gotten back to normal and I don’t want to go back to the place where I used to be. I am homeless.
The people I was living with said they couldn’t host me any longer, so they told me to look for an alternative,” he added.

In his appeal, he said that he had a business plan, and only needed money to set up the business. He wants to work in the creative industry.
Also, Kimani Mbugua said that he did not have a phone and needed someone to host him, some money, a laptop to be able to set himself up.
Mbugua said his debt currently stands at Ksh1.7 million.
“I’m in so much debt… like Ksh1.7 million. Somebody very close to me sold my car. I haven’t had a job in the last two years. I’ve just been wandering and being hosted by different people. But now I’m healing,” he said.
