Kenyan Music Star Bien Aime Baraza has publicly revealed that his father had 6 women and 10 children, with him being the last born.
Speaking at Breakfast Club, one of America’s influential and followed radio shows, Bien further said that back then, polygamous families used to work better than today, where things have changed.
According to him, polygamous families used to work then because it was all about a community and looking after one another.
“I agree that it may not work now, but back then, it was about the community and taking care of each other,” Bien said
The music icon further added that polygamy was historically shaped by socio-economic factors in African societies
However, when Bien was asked if he would consider finding another wife, he strongly refused, saying that he is satisfied with his wife, who they have been in marriage for 11 years now.
While on his ten-day tour in the U.S., Bien used the opportunity to speak about his career, marriage, cultural traditions, and social views, including polygamy and politics in Kenya.
The show, hosted by DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Jess Hilarious, and Loren Lorosa, has featured global icons and is widely influential for its thought-provoking and often unfiltered conversations.
Music Journey Of Bien
Bein began his musical journey in Nairobi, where he attended Upper Hill School and met his future bandmates.
Together, they formed Sauti Sol in 2005, blending afropop, soul, and R&B to create a unique sound that earned them continental fame.

Over the years, Sauti Sol released several hit albums and singles, such as Lazizi, Sura Yako, and Live and Die in Afrika, performing across the world and winning numerous awards.

Moreover, he launched his solo career with the critically acclaimed album “Alusa, Why Are You Topless?”, featuring collaborations with artists like Ayra Starr and Ms. Banks.
His solo sound mixes afrobeats, rhumba, and amapiano, often touching on political and social issues, as seen in the song Maandamano.
In 2024, he released a deluxe version of the album, which further established him as a solo powerhouse and made him the most-streamed Kenyan artist on Spotify that year.
Beyond music, Bien is also a co-founder of Sol Generation Records, a mentor to rising artists, and a vocal advocate for artists’ rights and social justice in Kenya.
Family life
He is married to Chiki Kuruka, a fitness trainer and choreographer. The couple tied the knot on March 6, 2020, in a private ceremony held in Lavington, Nairobi.

Their relationship began in 2015 after meeting at a concert in Westlands, Nairobi, introduced by mutual friend Emmanuel Jambo.
Since then, Chiki has played a significant role in Bien’s life, both personally and professionally.
Following Sauti Sol’s hiatus, she took on the role of his manager, a decision Bien credits as instrumental to his successful solo career.
