The State Department for Livestock Development has announced training opportunities for Diploma, Certificate, and Artisan courses across various training institutes for the 2026 academic year.
In a notice dated April 14, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development invited applications for courses offered at the Animal Health and Industry Training Institute Kabete, the Animal Health and Industry Training Institute Nyahururu, the Dairy Training Institute Naivasha, and the Meat Training Institute Athi River.
“Applications are invited for Diploma, Certificate, and Artisan courses offered at Training Institutes in the State Department for Livestock Development,” read part of the notice.
Ministry of Agriculture Rolls Out 2026 Training Courses for Students
Applicants are required to submit their applications to the principal of their preferred institution by May 22, 2026.
However, applications for Artisan courses at the Dairy Training Institute in Naivasha must be submitted by April 24, 2026.
The application process requires a non-refundable fee of KSh1,000, paid using the details provided by each institution.
Applicants must also attach copies of academic certificates, national ID, secondary school leaving certificate, birth certificate, and two recent passport-size photographs.

Certificate Courses
The Certificate course in Animal Health and Production will be offered at AHITI Ndomba, AHITI Kabete, and AHITI Nyahururu.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- KCSE Mean Grade of C
- C- in Biology or Biological Sciences
- OR a credit in a relevant one-year certificate course (Agriculture, Dairy Production Management, Range Management, Wildlife Health, Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, Animal Production, or Leather Technology)
- Applicants under the certificate route must have at least a D+ in Biology at KCSE level
On the other hand, the Certificate in Animal Health and Range Management course will be offered at Livestock Training Institute Wajir and AHITI Kabete.
Entry requirements include:
- KCSE Mean Grade of C-
- Pass in Biology or Biological Sciences
- OR credit in a related one-year certificate course in agriculture and livestock-related fields
- Minimum of D+ in Biology or Biological Sciences for certificate holders
The courses will run for 2 years at a fee of KSh136,700.

Artisan Programmes
The Artisan Course in Dairy Farm Management will be offered at the Dairy Training Institute Naivasha. Applicants must have a KCSE or KCE certificate.
The course will run for six months and will cost KSh47,800.
The Artisan Course in Dairy Plant Management will also be offered at the same institution. Applicants must have a KCSE or KCE certificate.
The program will run for six months and will cost KSh47,800.
