The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has urged students and parents to disregard misleading online messages claiming that inter-institutional transfer applications are open.
In a statement issued on July 10, KUCCPS clarified that it has not opened applications for inter-institutional transfers and dismissed social media messages directing students to purported university transfer application links.
“Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has NOT started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications. Application dates will be announced soon on this X Page, the KUCCPS website, and the Student’s Portal. Beware of false and misleading information,” the placement agency said.
KUCCPS Addresses Confusion Over Inter-University Transfer Window
The clarification follows the circulation of WhatsApp messages claiming that students wishing to change the institutions to which they were placed could apply for transfer assistance via Google Forms links.
They purport to facilitate various transfers, including university-to-university, university-to-TVET, TVET-to-TVET, TVET-to-university, KMTC-to-KMTC and TTC-to-TTC transfers.
The messages also instruct applicants to pay KSh1,000 as a supposed KUCCPS transfer fee and an additional KSh600 as a service charge before submitting their personal details through the online form to initiate the transfer process.

KUCCPS stressed that official inter-institutional transfer applications will only be announced through its verified X account, official website and the Student’s Portal.
The agency urged prospective students to ignore unofficial messages and refrain from sharing their personal information through external links.
On July 8, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that once the KUCCPS inter-institutional transfer window opens, the application period will be extended from the usual two weeks to one month.

What We Know So Far About the Transfer Window
Ogamba said the move is intended to give students more time to reconsider their placement and transfer to institutions or programmes that better align with their academic interests and career aspirations.
He assured that the transfer process will continue to be conducted online through the KUCCPS Student Portal, with applicants required to follow the prescribed application procedure.
However, approval of transfer requests will remain subject to several conditions, including the availability of vacancies in the preferred institution, compliance with programme entry requirements, and acceptance by the receiving institution.
