The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released the placement results for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the placement results on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, paving the way for thousands of students to join universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.
He revealed that this year, 980,535 students who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 2025 were given an opportunity to apply for placements to any of their desired programmes and institutions.
Of this number, of the 980,535, 270,508 attained the mean grade of C+ and above, and therefore qualified for degree programmes.
The rest were eligible for placement to various programmes offered by our national polytechnics, technical and vocational colleges, the Kenya Medical Training Colleges, teacher training colleges, and the Kenya Utalii College and other tertiary institutions.
“The Commission for University Education approved a total of 327,150. We had 327,000 available spaces against a qualified number of 270,000 who got C+ and above. Ladies and gentlemen, a total of 293,869 students have been placed to degree, to diploma level six, to craft certificate level five, and artisan certificate level four programs across tertiary and higher education institutions. Out of this 293,869, 202,133 applicants have been placed to degree programs out of those who qualified, who are 270,508,” Ogamba announced.
“28,246 have been placed to KMTC, 500 applicants have been placed to diploma in law, paralegal studies offered at the Kenya School of Law, 765 were placed to Kenya Utalii College, and 875 have been placed in secondary TTC programs.”
According to KUCCPS, as required by the Universities Act, 2012, placement of students into institutions is based on merit, taking into account applicants’ listed priorities, KCSE performance, and the available capacities of the institutions
KUCCPS opened the application portal on April 17, 2026, allowing 2025 KCSE candidates to apply for placement into universities and TVET institutions. The application window closed on May 6, 2026.
The placement service later reopened the portal for the first course revision, which ran from May 16 to May 22, 2026.
The revision exercise allowed applicants who had missed placement, selected highly competitive programmes, or wished to change their course choices to submit new applications before the placement process was finalised.
A second revision exercise was conducted from May 27 to May 31, 2026.
Following the completion of the 2025 placement exercise, KUCCPS announced that applicants can now begin checking the institutions and courses to which they have been placed.
