Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released the 2026 student placement results.
Students will also have an opportunity to change their institutions or programmes through the 2026 inter-university and inter-institutional transfer window once opened.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced an extension of the transfer period from two weeks to one month, giving students additional time to review their placement decisions a
The transfer process allows students dissatisfied with their placement to request a transfer to another institution or course, provided they meet the required academic qualifications and the receiving institution has available capacity.
Who Qualifies for KUCCPS Inter-University Transfer 2026?
Not every student placed through KUCCPS automatically qualifies for a transfer. Applicants must meet specific requirements before their requests can be considered.

To be eligible, a student must have been placed by KUCCPS in a university, TVET institution or other higher education institution. The applicant must also meet the minimum subject requirements and cut-off points for the programme they wish to transfer to.
Students can choose to change their institution, programme or both, depending on their academic qualifications and available slots. However, they can only apply for one institution and one programme at a time during the transfer.
A valid reason for requesting the transfer must also be provided. Depending on the circumstances, applicants may be required to submit supporting documents to justify their request.
Some programmes may have limited opportunities due to high demand. Competitive courses, especially medicine and other health-related programmes, often have fewer available slots, meaning applicants may face higher chances of rejection.
Step-by-Step Guide on How to Apply for KUCCPS Transfer
The entire KUCCPS inter-university transfer process is completed online through the KUCCPS Student Portal.
Log in to the KUCCPS Students Portal using the required credentials, including the KCSE index number and examination year.
After accessing the account, applicants should select the transfer section and choose their preferred institution and programme.
A student is required to provide the correct programme code and confirm that they meet the requirements before submitting the application.
Students are required to pay a KSh 1,000 transfer processing fee through the KUCCPS portal via eCitizen. The application will proceed only after payment is successfully completed.
Once submitted, the application goes through different approval stages. The receiving institution reviews whether it has space available, while the institution where the student was initially placed confirms the release. KUCCPS then conducts the final review before approving or rejecting the request.
