Machakos University is a Kenyan University that was founded in 1957 as a Technical Rural Training School by the then colonial Government.
It was converted to Machakos Technical and Trade School in 1958. In 1967, it became Machakos Technical School; later, it was converted to Machakos Technical Training Institute in 1987.
The Institution was then upgraded to Machakos University College by a legal notice of 16th September 2011.
On 7th October 2016, it was awarded a charter and thus became a fully-fledged public University.
Since 2020, the University has School of Science and Technology, the School of Agriculture, Environment and Health Sciences, the School of Business, Hospitality and Tourism, the School of Engineering and Design, and the School of Education and Social Science.
Location: Machakos University is located at the heart of the Lower Eastern Region and situated only a Kilometer away from Machakos Town along Machakos/Wote Road (Konza Road).

Bachelor of Education (Arts)
Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE OR equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE OR equivalent with a Diploma in Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.
Bachelor of Education (Science)
Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects and C+ (plus) in Mathematics OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.
Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education
Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in ECDE or its equivalent with an overall pass of credit or distinction.
Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education
Minimum of C+ (plus) in KCSE or equivalent with at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Education OR Special Education and at least C + (plus) in two teaching subjects.

4. School of Pure & Applied Science
The following Degree courses can be pursued at Machakos University;
Bachelor of Science (Statistics and Programming)
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with at least B(Plain) or equivalent in Mathematics C+(Plus) in English and C(Plain) in Physics
OR
Must have a Minimum of C (Plain) at KCSE and a Diploma in Statistics with at least a credit pass from an institution recognized by the University senate.
Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Computer Science)
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with at least B(Plain) or equivalent in Mathematics C+(Plus) in English and C(Plain) in Physics
OR
Must have passed with a credit at Diploma level in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other relevant Diploma to be determined by the department of Mathematics, Statistics & Actuarial Science at Machakos University & must have at least C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent.
OR
Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma at Machakos University or any other recognized/accredited institution.
Bachelor of Science (Mathematics)
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with at least B-(Minus) in Mathematics or equivalent
OR
Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma at Machakos University or any other recognized/accredited institution.
Bachelor of Science in Biology
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least B-(Minus) in Biology/ Biological.
In addition, the student must satisfy any of the following minimum requirement.
Alternative A: Chemistry C+, Physics C (Plain), Mathematics C (plain), Geography B- (minus), English C+ (plus)
Alternative B: Physical Science B- (minus), Mathematics C(plain), Geography B- (minus), English C+ (plus), Agriculture B- (minus)
OR
KCSE mean grade of C (plain) and a Diploma in Forestry, Education (Biology, Agriculture), Applied Biology, Wildlife or Wetlands with at least a credit pass from an institution recognized by the University senate.
